I saved what I think is an orchid yesterday ...?

It appears to invade the boat and I want to boat, but all you want to give you what you need. Unfortunately, I can not find any information online, as well as different varieties of hard to identify. Does anyone know good sites or books on orchids / identification of plants / flowers and care?

Most local garden centers have the pocket books with a lot of good pictures in them, about orchids. There are many different varieties, so a book would be helpful. Orchids often turn their pots covered, but not necessarily. The real factors in determining transplant is: Is this the potting soil has a musty odor or a little? The rugged terrain compare - a texture regular sandy soil or bark is dark brown and a little damp when it is wet? The best way to determine if your orchid needs "attention to the situation of pot "is the outside of the pot and examine the roots, bark. The roots are good and black, perhaps a little firmer, greenish, very? Or is that too gray or brown and appear soggy or mushy when wet? If it feels spongy, and then see if the coverage is derived immediately as it is similar the paper, revealing some "string" inside. If the roots are gray and fluffy (farm) when wet, or when is dry, the layer is near the coast and not within the green, then you will need to cut, so they do not rot in the boat. Sometimes, a beautiful plant will lose a large amount of root growth if allowed to dry for an unreasonable period of time, or kept in the old soil and degrading. If you find that the plant has a large number of dead roots and not very fresh pot (it should look like small pieces of fresh bark), then you can choose to give attention, but do not run a larger pot for now. Pull or cut the dead roots. Throw away all old potting medium around all the roots that are still good, taking care not to break or damage the healthy roots, and above all try not to break the little green root tips of all active root growth. Please do not let any owner old pot in the pot, as it comes rotting the remaining roots. Once you have removed all but a good root system, you can determine if you can return to his old pitcher a small pot if it has lost much of roots, or a larger pot if it becomes a terribly healthy plant that has no real root loss in the first place. Orchids do not like very large pots. You do not want a pot that is always going to fall because the upper part of the plant is too big for the pot, but want a pot allow other roots outside contact with the walls of the pot. If you have plenty of space around the roots, the soil stays moist too long and roots putrefaction. Most orchids (but not all) prefer to be a little cramped in their pots, rather than overpotted and, if necessary, you can even curl some roots there to fit in the pot. Place the plant in a container you have chosen. Centre and if there are "clues" (small shoots) growing, be sure they have some room to grow in any way are more and more worms. Begin to bark / earth in the pot. Keep the plant in place while doing so. Pour the mixture with or fingers in the pot on the counter gently settle to the bottom crust. Put more until it looks fairly complete, and push back with your fingers, but be careful not to damage the roots. Try to get the plant seems quite "solid" in the pot, so no moving around, too. If necessary, you can use tape or wire to secure the plant until it becomes the bottle. Moisten the potting soil and place in a place where all the excess water will run out of the pot. The plant should not sit on a plate, because the soil can become waterlogged which is bad for the plant. Place where you have decided is best for the plant, and the fog surface crust every day in the first part of the day. You can pour water through the pot once or twice a week, but make sure you can go. Misting help foster the growth of new roots. Find a book for the rest of the details, and good luck with your orchid.
