When planning a garden of heather, begin with a summary of the first zone. FOUNDATION PLANTINGS - Heather use in planting base to eliminate lines and procedures that are often created with more typical plants. In the north, Taxus, Rhododendron and Juniper are commonly used, Heather is a natural complement to these evergreens. Use them to hide bare branches at the base of shrubs, to fill voids between larger shrubs and plants to make it all out. A long line, curve is natural and can be designed with creativity and leaves of different heights of heather colors. Foliage evergreen can be the finishing touch needed for a foundation planting together.
Perennial beds and borders - Gardens of perennials often lack visual interest during the winter months when the herbaceous species are dormant, waiting to call spring temperatures are warmer. In the months summer when perennials are in decline, most of Calluna are heavier flowering. The color of the structure and the foliage of evergreens also can be used to advantage. Ericas winter flowers are natural selections for winter color. Erica carnea and E. x darlyensis buds begin to form in early summer, which open from November in shades of rose, pink or white. These flowers are colorful all winter until the first day of May, when most spring bulbs are in full bloom. The soil requirements are somewhat different from those of some perennials, but you may be able to provide a site that has a well-drained soil that there has been a lot of fertilizer and manure added.
