When I was a kid, all I had to do was cross the street to visit Grandma and Grandpa. In fact, the grandfather had a barber shop in our street, Loveland Avenue, where I got my haircut. The living room had hundreds of old hair farmers calendars at a large table and usually two or three men (which, incidentally, was no hair and no hair on the left) sitting and talking with his grandfather while he was working. Grandma usually can be found in the garden weeding flower beds in the kitchen baking a cake, or sewing up something. For some reason, even a bowl of cereal tasted better to the grandmother at home. On Saturday night we all watched Lawrence Welk and Sunday morning we were all sitting together in church, always on back of the bank in the second left.
My grandparents taught me many things in his humble quiet. In retrospect, here are some of the things that my grandparents taught me about the Christian faith of their life stories. These things also apply to
Psalm 71: 14-18 But I will always have hope I will praise you more and more. My mouth shall declare your justice, of your salvation all day I do not know its extent. I'll and proclaim your works, O Lord God; I will proclaim your righteousness, but you. From my youth, O God, you taught me, and even today I declare your question. Even when I'm old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation forces with all who come.
These are people in life. Many people enjoy the opportunity to capture what they remember the generations that preceded them. They not only want to tell their story but the story of people who have never had the opportunity to have their own. Your parents or grandparents have experienced hard times and persevered anyway. LifeBio writer said the process reminded him all the love I have ever met their parents and grandparents.
That is, "If I did, you too you can. "We all know that people in our families who have experienced difficult times and very complex. They were hit by the Depression, wars, civil rights movement, and all the tests just days old. It is useful and exciting to know that despite the difficulties, they persevered and made it through. With its strength and inspiration we can do it too.
It is also to advise and teach values. Record of people from their life stories are opportunity to answer the difficult questions that allow them to share things like having a good education, follow their faith, hard work, and keep their commitments. On the other hand, words people love their families almost jump to the page.
It is a journey of self discovery. Where are you from? What have you learned? What is in your life? We see the big picture when we look back and reflect. This identifies where we go next and helps guide our way.
As I my children to cross the street to their grandparents house. Today, it is not uncommon for grandparents to be states or countries away from their grandchildren. He retired to a remote location or, perhaps, the university or work caused younger family members to relocate. Even if they are just around the corner from each other, there are still many ways in which grandparents can affect their children and grandchildren with a conscious effort to tell and share stories of life.
What should you do when your children or grandchildren away from tradition Family Christian faith?
In 2007, a Barna Group study revealed that only 63% of Americans 18 to 41 are identified as a Christian that this figure is 77% for those aged 61 +. Search the trend change in the perception that young people have toward Christianity. While some respondents saw 16-29 years Christianity as having good values and principles and a kind and respected faith, negative perceptions were that Christianity is critical, hypocritical, and the old.
So how do you communicate with your son or daughter or grandchild who feels the Christian faith should not be fired? How can you overcome these negative perceptions and help them see that Christianity is relevant to your life and your life today? Here are four things that must be his story of faith:
1) Register on paper are the people who shaped of their faith. demonstrate that following Christ is the heritage of his family for hundreds (or thousands) of years and the rejection of the beliefs of the family should not be taken lightly. Tell your parents and why the Bible was important to them. Write your children and grandchildren that their grandparents were disciples of Christ also. Maybe your history shows parent family emigrated to America to escape persecution and obtain the right to worship Christ in their own way. Give the gift of faith in their family history.
2) to write down how you came to believe. Is there a memorable moment when he accepted Christ as a child or an adult? What questions have answers and you have your doubts? What Christian hymns and songs have been or are your favorites? How to experience God's love as a teenager? Why Jesus was a person who wishes to stay yesterday and today? Perhaps to share their experience with their faith before the Bible study class or school Sunday, but very important to share his story with his own family too.
3) Add to situations where you seen the work of God in your life time good and bad times. It is important for your family to see that his life has been profoundly different because I have known more love, more hope and peace and as a disciple of Jesus Christ. You see the beauty of the earth as God's creation is incredible, and see their children as beautiful and wonderfully done too. You had a special purpose he has done in recent years, with God's guidance. Have you had a difficult time and somehow felt the presence of God as a constant source of strength. Perhaps their lives have been affected because they have prayed for them and saw please reply (sometimes in ways they never expected, of course).
4) capture wisdom and truth, from his unique perspective. It's time to prove that the Bible is really the book of life and "great story" and the Gospel or Good News. Share your favorite scriptures and explain why these passages do you love so much. Tell the story of the Bible in their own story of how to understand the specific importance of the Word of God to the Christian faith. The Ten Commandments, the golden rule, and the command of Jesus to love God and love your neighbor as yourself are good ways of living our lives today. It is not "old" ideas, but radical ideas in a world where hatred and evil are real. Make sure it is clear that I love you and that God loves them too.
Tell them why you think it is a way to convey your thoughts, but to save it in a sustainable way in the paper can be more effective and sustainable. After all, the Bible is the best example of a recorded legacy that explains our Jewish roots, the life of Jesus Christ, and life's early Christians. Had it not been written, would have been lost or forgotten. The same is true of his own faith history.
